Ignacio Luis Garzon Sosa

Ignacio Garzon works as a researcher in the Physics Institute of the Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico (UNAM). He is a National Researcher level III and obtained the level "D" of PRIDE. He is recognized as one of the leading scientists in Mexico in the study of new properties and phenomenons ocurring in the matter at the nanometric scale. His lines of research include the theoretical and computational study of atomic clusters and metallic nanoparticles, with the objective of discover, predict and understand their structural, vibrational, dynamic, electronic, optic and chemical properties. The techniques used for this are global optimization, combined with atomic simulation methods and first principles methods based on quantum mechanics.

He has 91 publications, of which 85 correspond to scientific papers in journals with a high impact factor e.g. Chemical Society Reviews (IF=40.182), Accounts on Chemical Research (IF=20.955), Nature Communications (IF=13.691), Journal of the American Chemical Scoeity (IF=14.357), Nano Letters (IF=12.080), Physical Review Letters (IF=8.839), Nanoscale (IF=7.233), etc. The papers have over 4500 citations with an h-index=34 and a i10 index = 57, an average of 50 citations per paper and 15 papers with more than 100 citations, according to the data from Google Scholar. Dr. Garzon is a member of the Academia Mexicana de Ciencias.
